Frutiger Next featuring “Good Ol’ Charlie Brown”

Type Specimen Book

The challenge was to design a type specimen book for Adrian Frutiger’s Frutiger Next Typeface, focusing on showcasing the typeface and its history in an engaging and informative manner.

Coincidentally, Frutiger Next was released in the same year that Charles Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts comics, drew his last strip before passing away. Drawing inspiration from this, the type specimen book was centered around the Peanuts characters while still showcasing the Frutiger Next typeface. To achieve this, time was spent exploring Peanuts comics and other Charlie Brown material to understand the characters’ personalities and the comic’s visual style. Using this knowledge, a book was designed to seamlessly integrate the Frutiger Next typeface with the iconic Peanuts characters, creating a nostalgic and enjoyable experience for viewers.
